Using Overture and Keyword Tools Can Get Website Visitors

Overture or now known as Yahoo, was the original inventor of the use of the P4P or Pay for Performance. Overture saw that the internet was fast becoming the easiest and most convenient way to shop. And consequently, advertising was going to hit at an all time high due to many businesses in the internet arena, and more joining every day.

Getting a consistent substantial flow of website visitors is every company’s goal. Many methods are devised and utilized to secure traffic, interested buyers, and company product existence or service. Website visitors are The life blood of any internet based business.

Visibility: To obtain the goal of consistent traffic, one key step is knowing a site needs to be very visible in order to attract and encourage people to visit that specific site more than others. Yahoo provides a service that can put a site ad or company’s ad in their sites to be shown when certain keywords are displayed. These ads, in theory, could direct keyword-selected customers to that site therefore generating interested traffic and increasing sales.

Yahoo/Overture utilizes the same principle as Google’s Adwords. In fact, they are very similar to each other in that they use keyword and keyword phrase searches and to determine which ads to show per search. If a person types in a keyword or phrase, the search engine will give out a results page. Anyone who uses the internet for any kind of time has probably already used Google or Yahoo search engines many times over. An internet business should concern itself with using keywords in advertisements as this could lead to their products being displayed on the first search page. This also means that a company doesn’t have to fully optimize a site with Search Engine Optimization methods in order to attract traffic.

What Money Will Do: While some labor very hard to make their site one of the high ranking sites per keyword search, you get the chance to be on the top of the list or at least in the first page of a search result increasing your chance to be clicked on. You will, however, need to cough-up some cash when using this service though. There are different ways Yahoo/Overture will charge you. It may be in the number of Keywords or Keyword phrases your ad uses or in the many times your ad is clicked on. Other such services may offer other options like having your ad show up not only in the search engine pages but also with some third party sites.
Third party sites support ads that have the same theme or niche as them. Showing your ad in this way, you increase the chances of people knowing about your site or more importantly, your product.

Free Services and Same Results: Everyone is looking for it. Everyone wants it. That is The Best Method for finding effective keywords, and via the most inexpensive way. It does take a bit of practice, but it can be done. There are free keyword tools available, some with free limited access and others with no limitations on access. Some free searches turn out a wealth of information, others turn out much less. It seems the most well-known free keyword tool is Google Adwords Keyword Tool. A user is allowed full access and a wealth of information. The second free tool is MSN Keyword Forecast Tool. The service offers forecasted traffic for a keyword, and demographics. Go to Audience Intelligence, then click on Detecting Online, and make your keyword selection under Query. A score of over 0.5 or more will give you a good click rate. It helps to start by finding keywords that show hold a greater audience interest. Or if that method isn’t to your liking, try using ‘Check Traffic Tool’ by Bruce Clay. This free tool estimates queries per day for a given term, and displays Google, MSN, and Yahoo results.

Test, test, and test: In choosing the right keyword for your site or landing page, most already know not to choose the most general keywords, like “DVD”. Competition is just too fierce. Ask your customers what they search! Or add your company specifics to your keyword, such as “DVD’s for Children”. If you keep a list of keywords, line-up your favorite keyword tools and method, weed out the poor result keywords, you just very well may end up with just as great results as those paying for results in other ways, with full accesses to paid databases and paid advertisements.

If you are going out on the net, commercially, you are going to compete for traffic. Using paid methods, available to all as mentioned in the beginning of this article, is a reasonable approach. With more patience and a little effort, using free tools one can systematically find effective keywords and simply leave it that. Or, one can use those free-found keywords to then pay for advertisements increasing chances of getting more interested, targeted, traffic and customers. It’s all up to the business owner and how they want to optimize their advertising strategy.
