How to reduce image size in digital photography

Well theoretically the more you reduce the size of the images the quality will drop. You can use some methods like lossless compression methods but then too it won't reduce the file size much. Though 2-3mb files are not much. It'd been an issue if you were shooting in RAW which gives the highest quality. Reducing the size of the image is not advisable.
use 'JPEG imager' to resize ur images n without much quality(sharpeness or clarity) loss. its jus for d sake of uploadin n publishin in d web. keep d original copy of image safe...
my fotos r almost 2-3mb in most cases. to put them in my orkut album i resize them to 1024x768 n see no loss in image quality n size is only 200-600kb.
you can resize the images to 1024x768 by using any image viewing program i myself use Irfanview which is a freeware and it resizes the image without any loss of clarity or detail. It just reduces the size.
always take pictures in superfine model with max resolution n use a photo editing s/w to reduce the size. u never knw when yu r going to click a million doller worth pic.. so don take chance..
