Hockey Sticks

Hockey sticks are essential to the game. Many players take great care to make sure that they purchase the right product for their needs. There are some things to think about while shopping around for the right sports equipment, especially when it comes to hockey sticks.

One of the biggest questions that players ask is how to find the best hockey sticks. Each person is unique and one player will have different needs than another in this realm. There are some questions that need to be addressed while thinking about which hockey skates to choose.

The first thing you want to do is consider the length of the stick. This is the fundamental determining factor that will help you narrow your search. Why is the length so important? Because you ideally want to be able to move the blade of the hockey stick with ease. You need to be able to control the stick well and you will need to have a lot of reach.

Here comes the basic problem that many skaters face. Should the hockey sticks come to my chest or to my chin? (The measurement should be when you are wearing skates.) Some argue that you can bring the puck close to your feet and still maintain a lot of control when you have a slightly shorter stick.

Others insist that the hockey sticks should come up to your chin when you are in skates. This is the most popular approach for most players. The added length is ideal for anyone who is playing defense. Players in these positions need to have a long reach to catch the puck and they tend to move it along quickly rather than keeping it close to hone in on a target.

Posture is something that you need to consider as well. Many players tend to stand a little too erect during play. This problem is magnified if their hockey sticks are too long. However, some players may bend over too much. This leads to a loss of balance especially when skating backwards. Bending too much can also lead to back pain in some cases.

If you have a tendency to bend too much then you want to opt for a longer stick. If you are a player who canít keep his head down then a shorter stick would be ideal for you. So consider your position on the ice and consider your posture as factors in finding the right hockey sticks for your game.
