Choose a Hybrid Car Rental if you can

Hybrid cars are just like regular cars, except they are powered by both gasoline and electricity. The use of hybrid engines are nothing new--locomotives have been using a hybrid engine, which uses both diesel and electricity, to pull trains for a long time. Additionally, buses in the United States have been using hybrid engines powered by battery and diesel. Submarines also use hybrid engines powered by either electrical energy and nuclear energy or electrical energy and diesel energy.

Hybrid cars are a combination of the electric and gas powered cars. Most hybrid cars are powered by engines which use electrical energy and gasoline. However, there are also French-made hybrid cars (called the PSA Peugeot Citroen) with engines that use electric energy and diesel. Gas powered cars have a fuel tank which supplies the gasoline to the engine. The engine then uses the gas to turn on the transmission, which then moves the wheels. Electric cars, on the other hand, use a battery (which is rechargeable) to provide the electricity to the motor. The motor then turns on the transmission which results in the wheels moving.

Since hybrid cars are a cross between the gasoline and electricity powered cars, they have the advantages of both cars and few of the disadvantages associated with these two types of cars. As we all know both electric only or gas only cars have their individual shortcomings these being: Electric cars don't pollute the environment; however, they cannot go more than 100 miles without being charged again. Gasoline powered cars can go 300 miles with a full tank of fuel, but they pollute the environment.

A Hybrid combines the best of both

Hybrid rental car

Over the past few years, the price of gasoline has gone up and up. The average price of gas in the United States now sits around $2.20 a gallon..Car rental companies have begun to offer more fuel efficient cars, but very few have offered hybrids but one that has decided “hybrid is the way forward” that offers only hybrid cars is EV Car Rental which has branches in Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and in several cities in California. They will hopefully try to eventually expand to other states as well.

EV Car Rental offers popular models of hybrid cars for rent such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Highlander, and Toyota Prius. These three models all have an internal recharging system so they don't need to be recharged by an outside source. All three of these hybrid models are able to be powered by electrical energy or gasoline. They are all also very fuel efficient as they can go 50 miles on one gallon of gasoline or 600 miles on a full tank.

Hopefully more rental companies will start to follow EV's trend as hybrid vehicles grow in popularity and start to be the vehicle of choice.

After all besides the fact that hybrids are fuel efficient, they do not pollute the environment because the consumption of gas in hybrid cars is lower, so the emission of pollutants is lower as well. Hybrid cars are also very good for carpooling because many can hold up to five passengers and therefore for rental companies renting vehicles to holiday makers and groups of people they would be much cheaper to run.
