Usually the first port of call for any inexperienced computer user who's having problems with their PCs is to purchase a Windows registry cleaner. They say they will fix errors, speed up your PC and clean up unwanted files that clutter and slow down your PC's performance, and all this with just a click of a button.
I must admit it all sounds great on paper. Just imagine it, your PC keeps crashing, so all you do is start up your chosen Windows registry cleaner, hit the "Fix now" button and all your PC related dilemmas gone... just like a fart in the wind.
However I'm afraid it's not as clear cut as that
Let me explain. Over time Windows suffer from the same thing as we humans do... old age! I know it sounds a bit crazy but as your PC gets older, the slower and more unstable your Windows becomes. This is because as time goes by your PC's internal files become more and more corrupt the more times you use it.
So what's the answer?
Well this is where the Windows registry cleaners come into their own. They're designed to go into your PC's registry and restore these corrupt files like new again. All these corrupt files that build up overtime can be easily dealt with in a swift manner with your average Windows registry cleaner.
But this is what they don't tell you in the small print...
While I would hole heartily recommend using a Windows registry cleaner for cleaning your PC's registry but just don't expect anything else from them.
The problem is you see is a lot of people buy registry cleaners thinking it will fix all their PC related problems but once they've purchased, the majority turn out to be disappointed with the end results.
Here's why
This is because fixing your registry is actually a very small portion to tuning up your PC for faster performance. There is literally hundreds of other factors to consider and these are things that registry cleaners could never fix in a million years.
So what are the other ways of speeding up your PC?
Well basically it's all about getting your hands dirty. You'll have to manually do it yourself within the Windows operating system. It will take time to know how to manually tune up your PC but once you've mastered this art of manually tuning up your PC yourself, you will have a faster, more stable PC and it would give you a damn sight more stability and performance than any Windows registry cleaner ever could.
I'm not saying never use a Windows registry cleaner because they do have their place when optimising your PC for better performance. Even I'm guilty of owning one myself but they only play a very small part in fixing, cleaning and speeding up your PC.
End of the day the stuff that's really going yield impressive results is the hacks, tricks and secrets that you'll have to discover for yourself. Yes it's going to take time to learn them but trust me.. I'll pay off in the long term.
